Sweet Potato pie



In the southern states of the U.S, Christmas dinner traditionaly ends with a slice of sweet potato pie.

Recipe for a 9 inches pie:
  • 1 pound 3 ounces sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1/4 cups plain yogurt
  • 3/4 cup packed, dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
  • 5 egg yolks
  • Salt
  • 1 9 inch wide and 1/2inch deep cooked pie shell
  • 1 cup chopped pecans, toasted
  • 1 tablespoon of maple syrup
Steam the sweet potatoes for 20 minutes and mash them. Set aside.

Place the sweet potato pure in a large bowl and whisk in the yogurt, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, egg yolks and a pinch of salt until the mixture reaches a smooth and fluffy texture.

Pour the mix it into the pie shell, sprinkle with the maple syrup and pecan nuts and bake in a preheated oven at 175 degrees Celsius (350F) for 50 minutes.


Vegetarian, suitable for pregnant women.
